Unleashing Your Inner Strength: The Power of Confidence

Jun 26, 2023 | Self-Care, Mental & Physical Health

We have all had toxic thoughts such as “I’ll always be alone, or I hate my body.” We may experience dips in our confidence and doubt our abilities, accomplishments, or choices.

This past week on my Facebook page, I shared information and thoughts on unleashing your inner strength by releasing toxic thoughts and increasing confidence.

Stopping toxic thoughts takes inner strength and some effort. First, we must realize that the toxic idea is not serving us. For example: ‘I’ll always be alone” only mires you in self-pity. Change it to, “I’m alone right now to figure out what I want.” For too long, you have been caring for everyone else, and now you can reflect and decide what’s exciting and essential for you.

The “I hate my body” toxic thought causes you to give up. Don’t use it as an excuse, but to make happy changes. A new haircut, make-up, or pair of well-fitting slacks and tops aren’t expensive but will help you love your body as you decide to become more active, lose weight, or whiten your teeth.

When you dwell on the toxic thought ‘I’m not happy in my career”, you’re focusing on the negative. Instead, consider this; your job allows you the time to make an informed decision. Look around to see what’s available in your desired position, take a class, and refresh your resume. Preparing for your dream job will prevent you from making a costly mistake.

Do you struggle with doubts that hold you back from reaching your dreams? Are you timid in situations that may present roadblocks to your success? Instead of settling for a mediocre life, consider a few simple strategies to help you feel confident in every situation.

Confidence in your talents and abilities is closer than you think. You were created for a purpose, and you’re the only one who can fulfill that purpose.

Each one of us has a lot to offer the world. All you need is to discover the passion inside of you and agree to leave your comfort zone in favor of a life filled with joy.

Try these tips to begin developing your inner strength and self-confidence today:

Get to Know Yourself

One big obstacle holding you back from living the life you deserve is a lack of knowledge of who you are. Sit down with a pen and paper and answer these questions for yourself.

  1. What would I dare to attempt if I knew I couldn’t fail?
  2. What are my dreams? What did I dream about doing and becoming as a child? What have I always wanted to attempt?
  3. What are my talents? What do my friends and family say I’m good at? What abilities have I received compliments on?
  4. What am I excited about in my life right now? What’s great about my life?
  5. What parts of my life do I want to improve? What steps can I take to improve those areas? Whose help could I enlist?

When you begin to get clear on who you are, what’s important to you, and where you’re headed, you’ll feel empowered and in control of your destiny. This confidence seeps into every area of your life.

Allow your passions to fuel your confidence and stir you to action to move you toward your dreams.

Fake It

One of the quickest ways to build your inner strength and gain confidence is to pretend you’re confident already. It may seem silly initially, but if you begin to move your body and speak like you would if you were confident, you’ll quickly gain self-confidence.

  • How fast does a confident person speak?
  • At what volume does he speak?
  • How does she gesture with his hands?
  • How fast does she walk?
  • How does she move her body?
  • Pretend you’re confident by moving your body in confident ways. Your motions will follow the movement of your body.

Learn From Someone Who’s Successful

Confidence breeds success. Your confidence in your abilities will grow as you accomplish the things you set out to achieve. You can experience this increasing confidence through trial and error. Or you can shorten the learning curve dramatically through a coach.

  • Find the person who’s the best at what you’re trying to accomplish. Approach that person and ask them to show you the ropes. Ask them to show you how they arrived at their success and how they maintain it. With a mentor, your chances of success increase dramatically, strengthening your confidence.

Inner strength and confidence in your abilities are within your reach. Starting today, you can begin to feel the ease that comes from faith in your skills and talents. By applying these three strategies today, you can take seemingly small steps that lead to big rewards. Increase your confidence and begin to experience the life you deserve.
